The Demands of Off-Roading in Your Polaris Vehicle
Over the decades, our batteries have been installed in many Polaris ATVs and side-by-sides. Whether you own a RZR, a Ranger, or a Sportsman, you need maximum performance out of your battery. Cranking amps, durability, vibration-resistance — all important for the life of your vehicle.

With all that vibration of the CVT transmission, or the mud-caked cooling fins, and frigid-morning starts, your battery will have a rough life. And OEM part numbers can be a headache: What’s a 4014609 battery? Or a 4011271? Of course, now how does that measure up to a GYZ32HL?
Does any of this matter? Right now, you only care about replacing the thing.
Consequently, as a battery retailer, we’ve fielded a lot of questions from Polaris owners — and that’s why we’ve put this guide together. We’ve mapped out the most common Polaris OEM numbers to our premium US-made Big Crank line with the Yuasa equivalent part numbers for comparison. If you need to figure out the battery you need, you’re at the right place!
Why AGM is Essential for Polaris Vehicles
When off-roading, a wet cell battery is a liability. Freely sloshing acid and thinner lead plates aren’t sublime when hitting jumps or climbing rocks. And, even if they were, who wants to deal with keeping those water levels maintained?
This is why we make efforts to source AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) replacement batteries for every powersport and Polaris application. AGM batteries are sealed — no leaks, more power, less headache. In addition, packed inside with fiberglass mats, they offer extreme resistant to vibration that would kill a lesser battery.
Big Crank is our flagship brand: manufactured in the USA by East Penn (makers of DEKA-brand batteries) and built to handle the massive draw of modern UTVs. They’ll power winches, light bars, and sound systems while providing the high cold cranking amps you need to start when the mercury dips into single digits.
Understanding Polaris OEM Battery Numbers
Polaris’ parts catalog uses a numeric ID system. This can be extra confusing when these numbers get updated or replaced (“superseded”). One example: your manual calls for part #4011224, and then you’ll learn it’s been replaced. #4014609 is the current battery’s OEM part number.
Despite these numerical changes, the battery itself–its dimensions and cranking amps–remains the same. The most important advice we can provide when replacing a battery is ensuring those physical dimensions match. The boxes the battery sits in are custom-designed for a battery of a specific size.
Battery Mart’s Polaris Cross-Reference Table
Use our cross-reference table below to find the replacement (or upgrade!) for your Polaris factory battery. Furthermore, we’ve included the equivalent Yuasa part number, as many use that as the standard benchmark. Next to it, you’ll find the Big Crank or specialty replacement we recommend.
Crucial Note: While we have verified these cross-references and have successfully installed these in many Polaris vehicles, we always ask you double-check your original battery tray/box dimensions and terminal orientation before ordering. This will help ensure a perfect drop-in fit, even if your vehicle has had custom modifications.
| Polaris OEM Part Number | Yuasa Equivalent (For Comparison) | Big Crank (or Closest) Equivalent | CCA Rating (Typical) |

Specialty Upgrades: ODYSSEY and Ionic
There are two Polaris OEM batteries that require special needs, the 4081855 and the 4083259.
- For the Power Hungry: If you have a Polaris that requires OEM #4081855 (the 1000cc Polaris Expedition, Ranger Diesel, among other models), you need a battery that combines massive starting capabilities with phenomenal deep-cycle power. The ODYSSEY ODS-AGM42LA (PC1200T) or ODS-AGM42A (PC1200LT) is our recommendation. This battery boasts 540 CCA, 42 amp hour capacity, with a five-second burst of 1200 amps (PHCA). Make sure you match your terminal polarity with the correct replacement.
- For the Polaris Vehicles with the Lithium Battery: Models such as the 2025 RZR Pro R Race use a 12-volt lithium battery, OEM part #4083259. Our best option for this battery is the Ionic IC-12V30-S7 lithium battery. It offers a massive 1220 cold cranking amps within a lightweight form factor (6.5″ x 4.9″ x 6.8″).
